Instrument for determination of vertical burning of textiles
Home RESEARCH Equipment

Instrument for determination of vertical burning of textiles

Name of equipment:

Instrument for determination of vertical burning of textiles

Purpose:

Examination of flame retardant effectiveness of vertically oriented samples.

Model, type, country of origin:

Own production, Croatia

Technical characte-ristics:

     /

Year of origin:  -

Figure:

Method of
work:

In the vertical burned tests, the sample is suspended vertically so that it can be ignited on the bottom. After ignition, the ignition source (usually a Bunsen burner) is withdrawn and the lenght of the burn of the sample in a set period of time (6 -12 seconds) is measured. If the sample does not burn for the entire time, the time to extinguish is noted. Materials that burn while the ignition source is in contact but go out quickly when it is removed are termed self-extinguishing.

Department,
room, location:

Department for Textile Chemistry and Ecology, PhD Research cabinet, Savska cesta 16/9
